In order to protect the platform, we implement several "fair use" policies. The policies are designed to ensure we can continue to provide the highest quality services at the lowest possible cost (including our forever free tier) in the most sustainable way possible.
Pooling Free Accounts
You may not create multiple free accounts and make requests from them with the goal of circumventing our individual API limits. This will result in and INSTANT ban on the platform and stop you from signing up in future (we log browser/request fingerprints, IP addresses, whois info, etc). Seriously, do not try this.
Maintaining a Reasonable Email Find Rate
Because we only charge for found emails, there is an adverse incentive for bad actors to do things like not cleanse datasets that they submit to the API, or to stick us at the bottom of a waterfall flow to search for emails that are essentially impossible to find. These types of actions have several negative impacts on our platform:
Wasted resources (which puts pressure on us to raise prices)
Impacts our platform reputation by submitting lots of failing requests
Creates administrative burden dealing with the bad actors, which makes us want to make the platform less accessible in its current free form.
We monitor email find rates (especially if they fall below 10%) and reserve the right to deactivate your account/API key if we find that it impacts our ability to deliver services across our customer base. We will always contact your account contacts at least 24 hours before taking action.
Maintaining a Reasonable Email Verified Rate
Similar to low email find rates, low email verified rates can also have a negative impact on our reputation.
We monitor email statuses for 'verified' rates (especially if they fall below 10%) and reserve the right to deactivate your account/API key if we find that it impacts our ability to deliver services across our customer base. We will always contact your account contacts at least 24 hours before taking action.
Cloning Our Products and Services
We love resellers -- 70% of our business comes from users of our API who are building value-add flows into their applications (eg: a contact provider scrubbing their database, a sequencing app verifying emails pre-send).
However, you are not allowed to clone our service, which includes any/all of the following without explicit permission:
Offering a product/service with the exact same value proposition of our product (no other value adds)
Making product/marketing claims we consider to be unique to our product (speed, accuracy, cost)
Offer your service at substantially similar or cheaper pricing than what we charge for our services.
Reverse engineer any aspect of our product (infringement of our intellectual property
